. a new fox news poll of the swing state of virginia shows the obama/biden team down two points. the democratic ticket won virginia in 2008, the first democratic ticket to do so since 1964. there he is, mark plotkin with us again tonight. the president behind a couple points in virginia. what do you make of that? >> well, virginia is basically a republican state and they've had a good series of victories. governor bob mcdonnell won in 2009. they won the lieutenant governorship, the attorney generalship, became even in the state and have overriding majorities in the statehouse and if is basically a republican state and the -- it is basically a republican state and the president is counting on the changing demographics in virginia and as you said, it was 40 years before they actually won a presidential contest in virginia. so it's an uphill battle. >> assuming we have significant dang from sandy, do you expect the candidates to -- damage from sandy, do you expect the candidates to head to those damaged areas because they have to be careful not to look like they're taking advantage
news for the obama campaign. they are defending seats. all these battleground states that we are talking about, you know, he won pennsylvania by 681,000 votes, 10% points. he should be trying, the president, expanding rather than defending but all they care about is winning at least by one vote to get all the electoral votes in that state. >> in 2000, i was in florida in west palm beach watching as they counted hanging chads. won't be quite as bad this time in ohio but ohio is a mess. >> ohio, i just don't see how you and i are going to be able and the rest of fox 5 to talk about a result. the reason why is because the secretary of state has sid said for the very first time absentee ballot possibilities to all 7 million voters and the people that requested them and then decide not to actually send in an absentee ballot will have to cast a provisional ballot on election day and those ballots which will be hundreds of thousands of them, will not be counted until ten days after the election. so i don't think we're going to be able to determine which way ohio went after all this

supposed to be a battleground state. barack obama won it four years ago by 10 points. romney hasn't been there in over a month. he's coming there sunday. some say it's an act of desparation. they're trying to get any electoral votes they can. there are 20 in pennsylvania while others say wait, this is an indication of how close the race is and that romney is expanding the map while obama is contracting it, but we'll find out. the constituency he's after is upper income, suburban and also trying to get women's votes and also people who are jewish who live in those surrounding suburbs outside philadelphia. >> let's talk about virginia now. bill clinton will appear with the dave matthews band tomorrow. he's been a very successful surrogate for the president. what do you think this means? >> yeah. they're pulling in the big guy as they call him because they feel that people who were pleased in the eight years of the clinton administration and what he represents and jobs added and prosperity and he's the most affective asset for the obama campaign. the president is very singular about not hav
